BENEATH

White--snow.  Blue--bag containing my newspaper. From a week ago.

I'm getting tired of digging my newspaper from beneath each day's new snow.  And those of my elderly neighbor ladies who can't risk a fall to go pawing around the grass for their morning paper. This paper disappeared entirely until we had a melt.

Now here's a thought, MAYBE if the paper landed somewhere other than the most distant edge of the lawn or between the parked cars, maybe I would have a better chance of finding it before it's covered in snow.  And road muck.  I'm thinking the sidewalk would be nice.  The one leading right up to the door.  The mat in front of the door would be better.

Since phoning and emailing the newspaper office hasn't worked, I'm hoping a picture is worth a thousand words.  One posted on a blog then sent via email might be even better.

MULTIPLES

Multiples of geese take a break on a partially frozen creek.

MULTICOLORED

Saw her sitting roadside (test your cat skills here--why do I assume kitty is a her, not a him?)  She's a multicolored vision against the pure white snow.

ROADSIDE

Hoar frost covers weeds in a roadside ditch.
I think it looks deceptively beachy, like white sand dunes and dune grass. I can assure you, though, that just over the crest there is no expansive ocean glistening under that blue sky, only a snow covered field of corn stubble.

COLDER (SEE PREVIOUS POST TOO)

Minus Twelve this morning. Last night's minus 6 sorta impressed me.  Today's minus twelve just annoys me.

COLD

Minus Six might be considered cold in some places. Like here.

BLACK AND WHITE IMAGE

The worn barn and  snow covered farm lot made a naturally black and white image which only needed minimal enhancement.

BARNS

Today and the next couple of days will feature barns.
The six wild turkeys in the foreground were part of a group of maybe sixty trotting across the field.

NEGLECTED

A former church turned pharmacy turned urban eyesore sits empty and neglected in the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati.

BREAKFAST

A stroll through Findlay Market and a crepe for breakfast.  Good stuff.

NIGHT SHOT

Indiana State Capitol Building looking down from the Circle.
Hand held shot, out the car window.  I have an accommodating driver.

HUMOR

I'm thinking a little panhandler honesty humor surely increases his daily receipts.

SYMBOLS

The signs and symbols of Colts football fans last weekend.  Before the playoff game.

CITY OR TOWN

Cincinnati skyline as I drive across the Brent Spence Bridge from Kentucky.

EMPTY

So what's the story behind an empty grocery cart on a nearly empty street in the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati?

STRIPES

The vivid colors of the Stars and Stripes stand out on a fire escape in a city alley.

THE LETTER Q

The under construction Queen City Tower in downtown Cincinnati.

BLUE

A lone blue balloon blows along the streets of Indianapolis as it slowly deflates.
I pushed the contrast on this image but did not use selective coloring.  It's funny, too, because this was a mostly sunny day and I just happened to catch a dreary moment in the shadows of downtown buildings. A harbinger of what was to come later in the evening when the Colts lost to the Jets?

LOTS & LOTS & LOTS

Lots and lots and lots of canoes waiting for the thaw.

REPEATING PATTERNS

Looking toward Kim2900's home state there are repeating patterns as I cross the Roebling Bridge.  NothingKentucky is just over the rise in the bridge.
I caught a lull in traffic and my always game driver pulled the truck to center so I could quickly shoot through the windshield.

SHADES OF GREY

Colorful berries contrast against limbs that are shades of grey. I was trying to blur out as much of the berries as possible to increase the focus on the tree limbs.
